Real Day 1

Dearest Persons,
And thus begins the story with pictures of this wonderful journey to Egypt. Here's Jami and I... the Olivetians on the trip ready to leave for Germany... and then on to Cairo.

Well... it wouldn't upload yet... it shall come later. Read on!

I sat with this sweet girl, Ruthy, but we didn't sit by a window until after Frankfurt so there wasn't a lot we saw out of the window. But then, that flight was super awesome... We flew over the Alps... and the plane had a map that showed us exactly what country and cities we were flying over, so that was neat... we flew over Italy... and this is a picture of the Mediterranean Sea and Crete... how awesome, huh? Pictures don't give it justice, of course. But you must already know that. :)

We got to Cairo totally exhausted and after they drove us through the city a bit we went straight to our flats (British word for apartment... not bomb shelter as Jonathan supposed, ha!). It's massive and so nice. I live with 8 girls... Sarah, Tabitha, Ruthy, Adythia, Amy, Esther, Emily and Christina... I make 8. I share a room with Emily and Christina... they're awesome! Jami lives on the 5th floor flat. Here's a few pictures... our living room furniture is amazing and elegant... I'll put some of it when I can capture it for how beautiful it is. This is my bunk... and Humphrey, my camel, is checking my email... because how awesome... I get wireless on my bed. We're planning on having computer parties up here.

Meet Christina, the right and Emily, the left... checking their emails in the corner of the room... we hope the weak wireless signal we get doesn't leave us... but it takes forever to get pictures up!

Check out our amazing dining room table! Mom... isn't that gorgeous?

This is the view from our porch slash balcony.

This is one of our "toilets" or "hammem" in Arabic. Notice, especially Amy Slonecker... it's an AMERICAN TOILET!!! Not a hole in the ground, praise Jesus!! :)

New roomies!!

It's one o clock in the morning and I'm still suffering from jet lag so this is it for now... but you shall recieve more updates and stories and pictures of EGYPT soon!!
In His Mighty Grip,
Kara Joy

P.S. The vegetables here are AMAZING!

P.P.S. We drove past the pyramids today and they it felt surreal... totally amazing. And I think that tomorrow we're boating on the Nile. I feel like I'm in a dream.

P.P.S.S. Amanda and Allison... remember that movie, "Kingdom of Heaven" that we watched? We drove to the citadel today and I saw the place that war took place... and the mosque that is famous for Salah Hudein or however you say his name... it was amazing. I miss you! And Rachel too! :)

Kara,

Glad you made it! Yep, I'm one of those "persons". Been thinking and praying for you. Take TONS of pics. Hey, thanks for the book idea. I ordered it and am using it a lot on the paper...the 'Arab-Israeli conflict' book.

I'm glad you jumped!
