Brenda Mohr and Amanda Lee are FABULOUS!!
Today I got THE most amazing letters in the mail ever!! First I got this huge manilla envelope from Olivet and inside I found CRAYONS!!! Well, not for real... but a box of 64 crayons that Bren had removed the crayons from, written a love note on, and folded up to send me so that I can SMELL CRAYOLAS!!! Who would have thought of that!?! I mean for real... how awesome is that!?! And then she and Dee colored me 4 pictures of Camels and flowers and more camels and they SMELL LIKE CRAYONS!!! It was like heaven in an envelope!! I cried. Honestly. And then all my friends made fun of me because I went and sat in the corner and smelled "crayons" slash my empty box and pictures for like 15 minutes. AH!!! Thank you Bren... you are soooo amazing!! I do have one question for you... what happened to the crayons that were in the box? Are you saving them for me when I get back? ;) He he.
And THEN!!! I got a letter from my Amandolin!! For Christmas she made a donation to World Vision in my honor to save girls from the sex trade... and she sent me that gift card in the mail and an amazing little letter. Thanks so much, Amanda!! I miss you baby!!
Mail is the best thing ever. Thank you sooo much for your notes and letters!! It helps my spirits SO much!! I miss you all and love you more than the ocean!!
Smell a CRAYOLA CRAYON for me today!
You're in my heart!

Hi Kara Joy! It's Amanda P. from highschool, writing to you from Orlando. This is sort of a random comment but I felt the need to leave a note for you. I saw your camel picture on Facebook and then saw the link to this blog, and I sat down and read the whole thing from start to finish the past 2 hours, haha. The pictures are amazing and look like something out of National Geographic, I actually had a friend overlook what I was doing and ask if that's what I was reading. Then he sat down with me and I showed him all the pictures and he was like 'friggin sweet.'
That is so amazing that you are on this journey and having such a great learning experience in a place often misinterpreted or misunderstood by westerners. It's something I've always wanted to do (scratch that.. something I WILL do) - to travel and see the world and experience it from all points of view. I know a lot of people back home would not understand why I would want to go to a place that isn't more 'American friendly' but I think that's what really makes it an adventure.
I love that you took the time to make a blog about your time in Egypt and catalogued so many great pictures to share that experience with everyone else. You actually rekindled my drive to travel :) Are you in Egypt for the rest of the semester? If so that is quite daunting but also very cool. I wish you the best of times and hope you stay safe and grow from your experiences. It sounds like you already have.
P.S. - I keep remembering how you would always say 'Oh my cow!' (I think? It's been so long) on the bus. Is it going to be 'Oh my camel!' now? :P
